Netbook Reflection 2013

How has having a netbook connected to the internet helped my learning this year?
-My netbook has really helped me a lot to do with writing about recounts, maths on Maths whizz and on reading I use Sunshine Online. It has helped me improve in my learning in many ways that could be possible that will help me learn. Being online is better than offline because there’s hardly anything to do offline.

I’ve learnt that she prepares everything on time and make sure that we finish it.

I’ve learnt how to go on useful websites that contains my learning in it.

I have learnt how to blog presentations on my blog but that was what I learnt from a friend.

I have learnt how to download things that were not allowed to say so yeah.I just download games in my free time from chrome which is free.

I have sent my friends some links to some learning websites that can help them learn some useful facts.

Having a netbook is like exploring the whole world by learning their culture recipes, except you're exploring from a digital screen instead of going to the place where your looking at.

✝Dance Fever✝

This morning at school we had another session of Dance Fever. We sort of began late about 10 past 9 it was alright I mean I didn’t mind. When we got there to the hall we straight away got with our partners and began with our foxtrot. We went over it again just to see is we still remembered it from last week. This morning was pouring rain maybe that’s why our instructor’s came late or maybe there was traffic that’s something I need to find out.

After learning the Foxtrot we began with our chacha it was easy but the one thing that the teachers complained about was the lack of how we're dancing. So after that we straightened our arms and our neck also our legs not long ago we were perfect. After that we were straight into the hip hop dance because they thought we already knew all the moves. Afterwards we had a little fun and did the gangnam dance. It was like very fun everyone was pumping everywhere with there own weird moves. Later the class next already arrived and so that was the last of Dance Fever.

House Sports

On Monday we had House Sports. Student’s get divided into 4 colours. It’s Rata,Nikau,Kowhai then finally the Kauri team like the tree. I’m in Nikau the blue team our activity was relay racing on the field. We all warmed up with a relay each then got into the real game. When it was the end of the game Rata won so that’s bad news for the Nikau team because we lost.

Dance Fever

Today my class and I had another session of Dance Fever and it was a lot of fun. We began with the old moves from last week and continued on with the cha-cha. There were only a few moves to finish of with the hip hop dance then go onto the cha-cha. We started with some footsteps then finished. Some of the new moves we learnt was hard but I’ll still get through it. I can’t wait for next week learn some cha-cha.

Narrative Writing

During the school holiday’s Sophia and her family moved to a new house, further down the road from school. When Sophia was helping her parent’s move out some stuff out to the truck, she could see a hoodie at the corner of her eye watching her take some boxes. It was kinda scary having a guy stalking you when they think we don’t know. “Sophia pack 1 more box then you can go sleep over the new house while me and Dad finish off some boxes and furniture” said Mum. “Okay Mum see you in the morning bye” replied Sophia. Soon Sophia arrived at home and went to her bedroom and had a snooze. She could feel a pointy, sharp pocket knife pointing at her nose. “GET UP and follow me down stairs” shouted the man in the hoodie. Sophia got up and followed the dude which was Jacob to his house hidden in the woods with other people living there. I was terrified I was scared that they might kill me on a early age 15, I thought to my mind.

We walked in and seeing the kind of people there, they actually look like criminals that escaped out from prison. Jacob lead me to a dirty, old and dusty room upstairs, I kept on trying to climb out the window but every second I hear footsteps walking pass the room. It was hopeless going out the window. Next morning Sophia was hoping to go home safely to her parent’s. Jacob took her downstairs and showed her around the kitchen and right be side the kitchen oven was the door to freedom. Sophia took a run for it while Jacob bent down to tie his shoe lace. “YAY now I gotta find my way back home” said Sophia. When Sophia saw her Mum’s car parked at the drive way she ran her fastest and ran to her mother.

Sophia called the police and in a fast voice she said “Hello I need you to arrest these kidnappers hidden at the woods NOW”. The police zooming to my house was a good feeling and the police siron was REALLY LOUD I could hear it from a distance. The police team raced to the hidden house and arrested the kidnappers 1 by 1. “It’s a good feeling that Jacob and his friends are now arrested” said Sophia. Sophia and her family lived happily ever after.

My Inquiry Presentation

Dance Fever

Last Tuesday my class and I had an exciting program running at our school called “Dance Fever”. Dance Fever is a studio that teaches kids at school how to boogie. (dance) After we learn all 3 dances we go and compete with other schools with our dance moves. Our instructor’s names are Captain and Christina. We began with some basic skills just to warm up. Afterwards we started to dance and it was very fun. I was really tired after dancing so then we had a Boy’s vs Girl’s challenge. Each team had to do whatever moves the leader is doing. It looked like the boy’s were going to win because they were the only people that were dancing. Once we knew it the boy’s won the challenge.

Pumping Pedals

“ Pumping Pedals” by Maggie Lilleby

1. Recall
Give a brief summary of the story.
This story is about Sally competing in BMX bike competition. She’s only versed boy’s in the competition because no other girl wants to join in the club.

2. Infer
What kind of a person is Sally Davies? Tell why you think this.
She would do anything to compete in BMX races and I know why because BMX racing is her main lover sport.

3. Evaluate
Explain why you think the author entitled the story as “Pumping Pedals”
They called it this because there’s a lot of pedaling in this story.

4. Think about it
Why do you think Sally would like to attract more girls to the sport of BMX racing?
Because Sally is the only girl the races in the BMX racing course and maybe she doesn't want to verse on boys anymore.

5. Recall
How are the bikes designed and what are they made of?
They are made out of things that are meant for bikes.

6. Think about it.
Why did Sally groan as she remembered her first racing bike?
Cause she didn’t know how hard you have to work to achieve BMXing.

7. Please explain the racing technique called “pumping” and why it might be important?

8. Do you think BMX racing is a dangerous sport. Tell why or why not you think this.
No because before you get on the bike you put on the safety helmets and clothing on too.

9. Synthesize
Please tell what you liked most about the story and why or why not you would like to be a BMX racer.
I like BMX because you have fun and it can be exercise for your calf muscles. You will also have so much fun and meet new friends.

Persuasive Writing on Charity Fundraise

Have you considered yourself trapped in the hospital with cancer? Just to begin with there are adults and children that are suffering because of cancer. However, not all cancer diseases are contagious so that’s quite good news. Leukemia is the type of cancer that is in your bone and blood. For example, Leukemia would come to you body randomly so it’s not contagious. There are over 200 types of cancer that are in the world, In fact, there is over 12,000,000 people that are diagnosed with cancer each year. I believe that participating into doing charity work is helping the cancered patients.

Keeping Clean

We should keep clean just to be careful from diseases and always make sure we stick to the 20 second hand wash. It is actually saving your life to be washing your hands and also using hand sanitizer. Keep clean and stick to the 20 second hand wash.

Fear of Death

First of all, many kids are aware of dying in early age because of cancer. All around the world 108 life’s are gone and vanished to the graveyard in every 60 seconds. And I found this information from the internet, so It could be true or false.

╚> Donate and Fundraise
We should encourage people to do some fundraising and also do a lot of donating. Many kids and adults out there suffering just because of cancer. In fact it would be so generous if you could donate or even fundraise a bit money for cancered kids and adults.

I think keeping clean and donating treasure’s of our own would be a huge difference to our life. I believe that people around the world should take a stand and encourage non-cancered people to donate things to the sick and unwell kids and adults. Not helping is just too mean so I would just suggest to you all to help the cancered  people. Sometimes we will need to donate something for people who can’t really get. Which I would want to tell the world about.Thank you for listening. :)

♚ Softball Session

Today Room 10 and I had an softball session with 2 couches from the Auckland Sport. We began with a warm up game Octopus across the court. 2 taggers in the middle trying to tag the classmates that are at the side line of the court. After a while we got into 2 lines and with a partner also with a glove warming our shivering hands from this cold weather. We did some basic skills like throwing the ball and rolling it to the other. Then came along a competition, we had to throw the ball but if we caught it we take a step back then before. My partner and I were eliminated because I didn’t throw properly so we ended up at the corner of the court. Afterwards we watched the 3 teams that went through finish to win.

Squash recount

Last week Room 10 were lucky enough to have a Sport called Squash. We had from Tuesday and Friday. We had to members from the Auckland Sport and they were named Tristan and Ricardo. We began with simple ball skill and passed it around the mini circle. Afterwards we got to challenge some classmates from our class. Our classmates tried to break the high score the was 42 but I know that I didn’t. Then we moved to the other circuit, challenging the expert Tristan and try to take her out of the rally. I obviously didn't beat her that’s for sure because I suck at Squash. So later on that week we did more challenges and basic skills and learnt a lot. It was an enthusiastic sport to play and had to move around the court a lot. It was very hot inside the school hall because of all the running that has been inside the hall.

Squash Lesson

Today Room 10 and I had an playful morning have a sport that we've never heard before Squash. We always begin with a warm up playing with another partner. It starts off by hitting the ball on the ground once and smash it to the wall in front of you. You can trick you opponent by hitting the ball from the side wall then hitting it to the wall in front . It's basically a easy game as long that you don't hit the ball above and over the 3 lines. At the end of versing students from my class I eventually made it to the grand finals, and I honestly lost my match. Anyways next time I would try harder.

MY Holiday Recount

Wow! Last week Saturday My family and I rode off to Lollipop Play land. My Family and I were celebrating my 12th birthday and enjoying the time at Lollipop Play land. We were all filled with excitement and couldn't wait for the huge, bouncy slide. When we got there we jumped out the vehicle and walked to the entrance.

We all looked everywhere to see what obstacles that were provided. I zoomed to the bouncy slide and quickly ran to the frog piano. The piano was making frog noises when you step on them. There was a corner that had animal costumes. I was dressed as a Lion and doing a pose in front of the camera. We really enjoyed playing on the different and playful things that were there. Afterwards we were puffing out air and began to be exhausted.

Lollipop playland was a great place where to spend my birthday. I had a lot of fun there sliding down the cool slide. I wish to go there another time and have a lot of fun and sweat in my clothes.

Softball lesson

At the beginning of a new term we had a softball session with 3 expert coaches. Three Auckland softball sport ladies came to  .We began with a warm up game called “Traffic Lights”. Red light is stop, orange light you walk and the green light is when you try and sprint to the finish line, which is the end of the court. We were all getting ready until we heard purple and half of the students ran to the end of the court when It wasn't part of any of the colors. We slowly started until the lady shouted out “ GREEN ” and all girls and boys sprinted to the end of the court.

Afterwards we began with a challenge that we get a partner and try to not drop the ball while we're throwing it to each other and the most number of throws wins. My partner and I were hearing the numbers going higher and higher so we played hard to win the game. My Partner accidently dropped the ball and we had to go sit out. So that was what we did for our Softball session on Tuesday.
