The Hatchet

Today for reading we did some reading responses. Every afternoon our teacher reads us a bit of a novel. She organized us some questions and these are the main questions that were asked.

How did you react to Brian’s thoughts and actions? Do you think he is sensible or unreasonable? I thought Brian was brave because of what he went through trying to land a plane but actually crashed, surviving the wild with no food or shelter for 2 days that’s what I call bravery and courageous.

What lesson does Brian recall from Mr Pepich, his English teacher? How does that lesson help Brian as he sits beside the lake?Brian thinks about Mr Pepich words how he spoke “You are your most valuable asset”.

Sometimes Brian’s thoughts go back to an earlier time, when he was with his mother. What effect do these “breaks” have on the story. Once the flashback ended Brian screamed his lungs out until it went all silent.

Are Brian’s reactions to the pilot’s death and the crash realistic? Does Brian seem like a real thirteen-year-old boy?
Brian was shocked when the pilot died but he was also brave to. Once he died there was no sign of saying that he cried or did anything so I guess he'd have to be a 16 year old boy.

Life Jacket

Today we learnt how to put on life jackets for the afternoon, we worked in partners my partner was Eseki had to check if I was wearing the life jacket correct.A life jacket needs to be worn when you’re out in sea. Just slip the life jacket into your head and wear it. Once you've done that you tighten the straps and clip it as it it was a seat belt.

Plan& Prepare for a Bush walk

d.any other special features including a picture of the track to accompany it.

When you go on a Bush walk and on a really long bush walk you’ll have to be aware of the weather conditions and getting prepared.Just in case you get lost and can’t find your way back keep a friend updated about where and when your walking. It would be good to wear some good casual hiking shoes to wear when you go. If your gonna spend a night in the bush it would be a good idea to learn how to start a fire to keep yourself warm, and also keep a first aid kit packed in you bag. Keep your backpack as light as possible so it won’t stop you from walking to the destination. Walking on a nice and steady paste would be good and would save a lot of energy for later. Also keep a snack for later before you go starving hungry  on the way back home.

Non-Swimmers Graph

Today we are learning how to display information onto a Bar graph/Area graph. I bet when I go home my brain would be sizzling with a lot of statistics around my long term brain. The graph shows how many the students from my class were absent for swimming or couldn't be bothered about bringing there swim wear.

Temperature High/Low

Today for maths we are learning how to organize information onto a graph. This graph is showing the high/low temperature  during this week. The color blue shows the lows while the red displays the high temperature. I learnt how to do a Area graph with 2 parts of information.

Basketball

In Basketball we started off with doing some relays back and forth with some action in it, like 5 star jumps and 2 push ups it was a lot harder than I thought. We got into 2 partners and each had a turn racing to the circle in the middle of the court and back. 3rd round was getting very hard and so I began to give up and took a rest with my peers that were tired. There was one tiring action that we all had to do and that was spinning 3xs, it sure did get me dizzy.

Next activity we did was different kind of passes. We began with a chest pass, throwing the ball with a shape of your hand holding the ball as a W, and then throwing it. Once we've done some throws there was a challenge, the first partners to win up to 20 wins the whole game and then sit down as fast as you can before your other peers get the chance to sit down. When I looked around I saw everybody beginning to sit down I shouted to my partner “Hurry up we’re losing”. Soon after we did a lot of passes and it was time to learn a trick but Coach Steph said “ Room 10 is not learning a trick because of the lack of laziness. The trick was to spin a ball pinning with different tricks.

Favourite Fruit

Today for our subject maths we did a survey on asking the students in Room 10 what is there favourite fruit in all time. I did 2 sorts of graphs but same information. From my point of view I think that the pie graph shows more information than the bar grapgh because it tells the percentage of what fruit they like. The mosted liked fruit is from the tropical Island Mango and then the least fruit liked is a famous fruit by Spongebob a pinapple.

Basketball Reading task

Analysis- What are some of the advantages and disadvantages of having amateur, professional and international rules?
If the opponent team gets a disadvantage then the other team gets a closer shot of winning the game because they'll have to give away the ball.

Synthesis- Create a new game using Basketball as a starting game?
A starting game for Basketball it Toilet tag but just with a mix up in it to how to play. 4 Students or 4 players volunteers to be a tagger, tagging from outside the court. The rest stands at the outside of the square and get ready to run across the court, if they get hit from the ball threw by the taggers they'll have to kneel down on 1 knee, 1 arm up for the flush and then the other knee stays flat on the floor for the toilet seat. Once they've been a toilet then a person from there own team comes and takes a fake loo on them and then the toilet person is set free to play another round.
*The key is to try and illuminate the athletic person because they have more skills than the others.

Evaluation- Do you think introducing games from other countries is a good or bad thing?
From my opinion Yes because it's good to interact with other countries games they play, and well you might never know you might like it or your peers might very like it.
